What happened in Jerusalem on Saturday?
A gunman opened fire on a bus carrying Israeli tourists, killing one person and wounding nine.
No one was hurt.
Police said they were searching for another suspect, who fled the scene.
An Israeli soldier was also wounded.
Israel’s Interior Ministry identified the bus driver as David Cook, who was shot and killed after the incident.
The Israeli military said in a statement that Cook, an IDF veteran, was “the leader of an illegal organization, which carried out attacks against the Israeli military in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.”
Cook was from a village near Hebron in the occupied West Bank.
The IDF said he had been a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, an armed wing of the Palestinian militant group.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the group said it was “a terrorist organization operating in the Occupied Territories in cooperation with terrorist organizations and terror groups in the world.”
It said Cook had “repeatedly committed acts against Israel.”
A spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces said it would continue to “protect the safety of the IDF and its citizens.”
In the past, Cook has been linked to a number of deadly attacks.
The Jerusalem attacker had a history of “tactical” attacks, Israeli police said.
He had also recently been charged with shooting and killing a Palestinian in the northern West Bank city of Hebron.
Police did not immediately return messages from The Associated Press seeking comment.
A video posted on YouTube on Saturday showed the moment Cook was shot.
Cook is seen on the video with his hands raised in the air and his eyes closed as a masked gunman opens fire.
The video, posted on an Israel-based Facebook group, said Cook was killed while trying to flee the scene of the attack.
Police found him in the city’s Tulkarm neighborhood and arrested him on Sunday, the Israeli news agency Ynet reported.
Cook, whose name was not immediately released, is one of the few Israelis who have been convicted in the Palestinian territories of carrying out attacks.
Cook’s arrest came two days after the Israeli authorities said they arrested another Palestinian in Hebron who they say was responsible for shooting dead four Israelis and injuring 20 others.
A total of 22 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian attackers since January, according to Israeli government figures.
Israel says more than 100 Palestinians have been wounded in the wave of violence.
Israel also has accused Hamas of responsibility for attacks in several of its cities.
