When Sam the Cooking Guy returns to the NHL, Sam the Lobster Tail Guy will be a big part of it
The NHL has officially announced Sam the Kitchen Guy, a new mascot that will make his return to the league next season.
Sam, who has been on the sidelines for nearly five seasons, will be one of three new mascots in the league.
The other two are Tic Tacs and the Rock and Roll Express.
Sam is the only one of those three to make an appearance this season.
Sam’s debut comes a week after he debuted on the NHL Network.
Sam will be the latest member of the league’s growing cast of characters to be brought back to the forefront of hockey’s lore.
The franchise that once had players like Dougie Hamilton, Jaromir Jagr, and Patrick Kane on its roster will once again have a name to call its own, as the team that started it all.
As part of the NHL’s ongoing partnership with the Walt Disney Company, the NHL will release the new Sam the Rocket mascot for free in April, which means the NHL is giving away a free toy or two to fans in its name.
“We have always said that we are proud to have Sam on our roster and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to the arena and into our hearts,” NHL Vice President of Hockey Operations John Ferguson said in a release.
“The iconic character Sam will continue to bring excitement to the franchise as we embark on our first full season in the National Hockey League.”
Fans who want to play the Sam the Robot can download the Sam app on their Apple devices or Android devices.
Sam will be available in stores in early April.
